What Happens Next
The fear of the unknown is usually worse than the procedure itself.
Here's exactly what you can expect — before, during, and after.
Sedation Options
Local Anesthesia
The area goes numb. You feel pressure, not pain. You stay awake and aware the entire time.
Nitrous Oxide
Inhaled through a small nosepiece. Produces calm, floating sensation. You remain responsive.
IV Sedation
Administered through a small IV. Most patients have no memory of the procedure.
Recovery Timeline
First 24 hours
Soft foods only — yogurt, applesauce, smoothies (no straws). Rest with your head elevated. Light bleeding is normal.
Days 2–3
Swelling peaks around day two. Cold packs in 20-minute intervals. Avoid smoking, alcohol, and hard foods.
Days 4–7
Gradual return to normal diet. Gentle rinsing with warm salt water after meals. Most patients return to work by day three.
Week 2+
Tissue heals fully over 3–6 weeks. Follow-up call included in your care plan. Call us anytime if something feels off.
Questions before you decide?
You can call us during business hours and speak with a patient coordinator — not a phone tree. They've answered every question you're about to ask.
